Understanding your subdomain
What your CalcWidgets subdomain is, where to find it, and what to do if you need to change it.
What is your subdomain?
Every CalcWidgets account gets a unique subdomain. It looks like:
https://yourname.calcwidgets.com
This is the address where your branded calculators live. Every embed URL you generate uses your subdomain, and any visitor who lands on it sees your colours, logo and CTA.
You picked your subdomain during signup. You can see it any time on Dashboard → Settings under "Account Info".
How is it used?
Two places:
- Inside every embed URL — when you copy embed code from the dashboard, the iframe
srcpoints tohttps://yourname.calcwidgets.com/embed?.... That tells our servers which account's branding to apply. - As a standalone page — if a visitor types your subdomain straight into a browser, they see a calculator page with your branding. You can link to this from your main website if you don't want to use iframes.
Can I change it?
The dashboard doesn't expose subdomain changes self-serve because doing so would break any embeds already live on customer websites. Email hello@calcwidgets.com and we'll change it manually after checking nothing breaks.
Can I use my own domain?
Not yet. Custom domains (e.g. calculators.brokerexample.com.au) are on the roadmap. Today your calculator URLs always show calcwidgets.com. You can link to them from your own site, but the URL bar will show ours when the visitor lands there.
Tip: testing your subdomain
Paste your subdomain URL straight into a browser tab to see exactly what your visitors see inside the iframe. Useful for testing branding changes before sharing a page.
